Last summer, I was lucky enough to be part of an international student exchange program. I was sent to a small town in India for two weeks. Little did I know that this short stay would open my eyes to a world of diverse cultures and leave me with memories that would last a lifetime.

The town was preparing for a famous local festival called Holi when I arrived. People were busy buying colored powders, preparing traditional sweets, and decorating the streets. Holi is a festival of colors, joy, and love. It celebrates the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil.

On the day of the festival, I woke up early to the sound of music and laughter. When I stepped outside, the whole town seemed to be in a frenzy of celebration. People of all ages were running around, throwing colored powders at each other. At first, I was a bit hesitant to join in, as I wasn’t familiar with the customs. But a kind-hearted local girl named Priya came up to me, took my hand, and pulled me into the crowd. She taught me how to play Holi safely and explained the meaning behind every tradition.

As the day went on, I found myself covered from head to toe in bright colors. I was laughing and playing with people I had just met, forgetting all about the cultural differences that initially made me feel nervous. We shared stories about our countries, our families, and our dreams. I learned about Indian history, their unique art forms, and their deep-rooted values. In return, I told them about my hometown, the festivals we celebrate, and the food we love.

One of the most memorable moments was when we all sat together in the evening, sharing traditional Indian food. The spices, the flavors, and the way the food was prepared were so different from what I was used to, but I loved every bite of it. Through this experience, I realized that cultural differences are not barriers but bridges that connect us. They make the world a more interesting and beautiful place. When I left India, I carried with me not only colorful memories but also a newfound appreciation for the diversity of cultures around the world.

You may remember the things you were told as a child about watching too much TV. In the UK, parents may even tell their kids their eyes will turn square!

Now, a new review of more than two decades of research into the impact of screen time on the brains of young children has found no evidence of square eyes. But the researchers have decided that screen time does have a significant and lasting impact.

A team from universities in Asia and Australia examined 33 studies that used neuroimaging (神经影像) or images of the brain to review the effect of screen time on the brains of children up to the age of 12. This included playing video games, watching television and using other electronic equipment.

The team found that screen time can lead to changes in a number of different parts of the brain, including the prefrontal cortex (前额叶皮层), which has been called our “personality center”. The prefrontal cortex controls things like working memory and the ability to make plans and respond to situations. Screen time has also been found to affect the temporal lobe (颞叶), which deals with memory and language.

The research also noticed that children who use tablets to watch TV and play video games may be worse at problem-solving tasks, while playing a lot of video games and using the Internet for long periods of time were found to affect intelligence scores.

In response to the results, one of the study’s authors, Hui Li, said that limiting screen time is not the only answer. He said this could be effective, but it may also cause arguments. He suggested using other friendly and practical ways, and encouraged teachers and parents to give advice to young people based on the latest research.

The American space agency NASA is preparing to send a spaceship to explore more detailed information on water sources on the moon.

In a recent statement, NASA said the spaceship passed a series of important tests. It is now completing additional software testing designed to simulate(模拟) different elements of the trip, or mission.

The spaceship will use two science instruments to carry out its task. Both instruments are designed to map the moon in search of areas holding water, as well as what forms the water is in.The instruments use X-ray technology to produce highly detailed mapped images, thus allowing us to understand how surface temperature influences water and improving our knowledge of the presence and distribution(分布)of this matter on the moon.

The spaceship weighs about 200 kilograms and is about 3.5 meters in length with its solar plate fully opened. The solar plate, which covers an area of about 5 square meters , is an important part. It is made up of high-efficiency solar cells that can turn sunlight into electricity with an impressive conversion rate(转换率) of over 30%, This enables the spaceship to produce about 150 watts of power.

The spaceship is designed to provide scientists with new information about how much movement of water molecules(分子) there is on the moon. Understanding whether water molecules move freely across the surface of the moon or are locked inside rock is also scientifically important. NASA has said its search for water on the moon is important because it is seen as a necessary resource(资源) for future exploration activities, Astronauts could turn it into drinking water, or use it to cool equipment, to create oxygen to breathe or even to drive rockets.

【小题1】What is NASA’s new spaceship expected to do on the moon?
A.To take detailed photographs of the moon.
B.To find out how water is distributed on the moon.
C.To collect temperature information on the moon.
D.To study how to turn sunlight into electricity on the moon.
【小题2】How does the author introduce the spaceship in paragraph 4?
A.By listing numbers. B.By giving examples.
C.By making comparisons. D.By explaining working rules.
【小题3】Why is NASA’s search for water on the moon important according to the text?
A.It can prove there is life on the moon.
B.lt may support future exploration activities.
C.It may solve the water shortage problem on earth.
D.It can help find new resources on the moon.
【小题4】Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A.Moon Will Become Humans’Second Home
